Senior Data Engineer

Constellr operates in the new space and agri-tech sectors, combining engineering, Earth Observation and agronomy to address one of the biggest challenges of our time: how to ensure global food security.

To achieve our goals, we need to build a state-of-the-art Data Platform, which transfers our satellite data to the cloud, where we process, enrich, and deliver analysis-ready geospatial data to internal and external customers. If you are a Senior Data Engineer, come and help us design and build this Data Platform.

• You’ll work with modern technologies, which currently would include Python, S3, Docker, Terraform, Zarr, Cloud-Optimized GeoTiffs, STAC, PostGIS, and more, but still open for decision

What you’ll be doing

• Work closely with other data engineers but also stakeholders e.g. from the product, infrastructure, and image segment teams to ensure their requirements are being met

• Collaboratively design and implement the components from ingestion, processing and storage for our Cloud Native Geospatial solution
• Build and maintain a scalable, large-scale and efficient data pipeline, from the ground station, up to the customer environment
• Keep up to date with and evaluate new technologies, frameworks and standards
• Mentor the younger data engineers to help them reach their potential

Who you are

• A motivated, curious and inquisitive team player, who is not afraid to question the status quo, and a can-do mentality to bring ideas into action
• An analytical and solutions-oriented mindset, who is willing to explore new solutions
• A strong programming experience

• Relevant work experience with the tasks described above
• A proven track record in building data platforms in fast-moving environments

Bonus points if you

• Have worked in the EO sector and/or NewSpace startups
• Have experience with geospatial formats, such as Cloud Optimized GeoTiff, or multi-dimensional formats like Zarr
• Have any other experiences which you believe would bring extra value to the team
