Metrology Specialist, Process Development

META is seeking a Metrology Specialist for our manufacturing and scale-up facility located just outside Canada's capital region in the quaint town of Thurso, Quebec.

What You’ll Do:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Process Development, The Metrology Specialist will support the process development group through characterization and analysis of nano-optical and meta-material devices. As a Metrology Specialist you will be responsible for quality assurance of nano-replication techniques, using atomic force microscopy (AFM), optical microscope (OM) and other laboratory instruments, as well as be capable of making  recommendations for new characterization methods and tools as required. The position is heavily hand-on and requires spending most of your time in a lab setting. The company will depend on you to analyze, measure and produce detailed reports on micro & nano-structure replication techniques from lab scale processes to roll-to-roll mass production.  The position involves creative thinking, teamwork, and detailed execution of all characterization steps as required.

Some of the typical responsibilities will include:
Metrology - Collecting samples, measuring data, and executing characterization processes. Performing AFM and OM measurements on nanoimprinted flexible substrates.
Nano-fabrication support - Learning step-and-repeat and roll-to-roll nano-replication techniques to facilitate metrology analysis.
Documentation - Maintaining and updating documentation such as standard operating procedures (SOPs), Preventative maintenance reports (PMs), and calibration checklists.
Communication - Communicating metrology results to a broad group of stakeholders

Minimum qualifications: 

Masters of Science (M.SC) in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or related descipline.
3+ years' experience in a laboratory or production environment performing characterization.
Hands on experience using optical microscopy, profilometry, SEM, AFM, equipment and techniques; familiar with cleanroom practices and materials handling protocols.
Motivated, self-driven professional.  Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while working on multiple projects – often under pressure with shifting priorities.  

Preferred qualifications: 

French language fluency.
5+ years' experience in characterization and metrology, development of QC protocols.
