We are currently looking to bring in a Facilities and HSE Manager, to manage all aspects of our facility in Hackney Wick, and take charge of HSE and regulatory compliance.

The Facilities & HSE role is the next important step in pushing our business practices and overall facility forward. You will be a part of the Business Services team, a multi-talented team that prides itself on the service it provides to the whole company, acting as the structure and foundations that allows our group of exceptional designers, engineers, scientists, commercial and production staff to push our technology forward. As the Facilities & HSE Manager you will work largely independently but will have support from our COO and Manufacturing & Development Director as well as from several members of the wider team. As you will work independently, this is a brilliant opportunity to take on the proactive management of all facilities to ensure ongoing maintenance, improvement and development is completed to a high standard, in a timely manner and in the most cost-effective way.
Your profileWe are ideally looking for someone with experience managing a small to medium sized manufacturing or R&D facility. You will need to have a good overall knowledge of facilities management, including HSE assessments and implementation of regulatory requirements. It is imperative that you have a hands on approach, you need to be willing to really get involved with the day to day as well as the more long term management pieces. You will ideally have practical knowledge of 5S methodology, any maintenance qualifications would be a bonus as well. As well as the above you will also be responsible for:
Sourcing and overseeing external contractors for site improvements and upgrades, including builders, electricians and plumbers.
Managing the workshop & lab spaces, including performing equipment calibration and electrical compliance checks for machinery, day to day enforcement of PPE.
Organising training for key equipment and machinery, as well as advising on handling procedures for the warehouse and lab.
Undertaking simple handyman jobs around the site when necessary.
Taking ownership of 5S protocols - reviewing and improving office and warehouse layout and organisation, and ensuring markings are adhered to, conducting safety and 5S audits.
Performing (or subcontracting) Risk Assessments for the site, ensuring required documentation is kept up to date and owning the incidents & accidents register.
Implement and drive Notpla total safety culture - training the team on HSE and Fire Safety, setting Safety KPIs, tracking and reporting, coordinating the First Aid and Fire warden team.
Manage annual renewables of supplier contracts, including energy suppliers and insurance, weighing up risks and benefits of committing to new terms.
Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental regulations / legislation, including those specific to packaging and food businesses such as Food Handling, Plastic Packaging Tax and Extended Producer Responsibility.
Ensure company's policies and procedures are up to date and enforce, reviewing from time to time for legal compliance.
Build up knowledge of, and implement where desirable, external regulatory certificates for manufacturing, such as ISO 19001.
Maintain our packaging certifications and support the team on registering for new ones where necessary.
