Job Summary: 

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will report to the Maintenance Manager and will assist the Maintenance Engineering team with the responsibility for the health of all mechanical equipment within the facility. A general knowledge across all aspects of mechanical equipment maintenance and design for industrial manufacturing facilities would be preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide field support as needed for Maintenance, Operations, Quality, and Process teams
  • Support the writing & review of any Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs, procedures, and policies as tasked
  • Support the plant reliability team with any requested asset management duties.
  • Interface with Li-Cycle management, business, and engineering teams to resolve plant performance and reliability related issues
  • Assist in the review of maintenance and service practices and policies for industrial mechanical equipment such as pumps piping systems, mechanical drive systems, conveyor systems, rigging and lifting configurations and methodologies, and tanks and agitators
  • Assist in monitoring lubrication program performance and reliability to meet plant goals


Job Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled students in an undergraduate level mechanical engineering or similar program are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Should have an overall average grade of 3.0
  • Any knowledge of industry best practices would be preferred
  • Knowledge and some proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work outside in harsh environments (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.) for extended periods of time
  • The ability to work in demanding environments (noise, dust, contamination) is required
  • Physical ability to lift 40 lb+


Work Conditions:

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Will be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing
  • Must be wear proper personal protective equipment including gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hard hat, respirator, and face shield as required to in the facilities
  • May have exposure to reagents, solid and aqueous wastes, and metal salts
  • Physical ability to lift 40 lb+
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required
