PUR is seeking an engaging and impact driven individual for a role of Project Manager to join its Africa team and develop projects in Ghana.


PUR has been working in Ivory Coast, since 2019, implementing ecosystem restoration projects in cocoa. To date, 1,300,000+ trees have been planted with 6 000+ smallholder farmers and several initiatives in beekeeping, women empowerment, fish breeding and improved cookstoves are being piloted.

As PUR is expanding in West Africa, we are looking for a dynamic and organized Project Manager Ghana who will report directly to the Country Manager West Africa. The position is based in Abidjan and the incumbent will closely collaborate with a number of colleagues based in the Paris and other Global Offices.

Your missions will be to support the development, coordination, management and monitoring of ecosystem restoration, agroforestry and income generative initiatives, with agricultural communities on behalf of PUR’s new and existing clients in Ghana; for the purpose of restoring ecosystem services and supporting sustainable livelihoods such as but not limited to:


  • Project management : Set-up, plan, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of project activities. Build, train and manage local partner. Collect and manage data for internal reporting, control quality of implementation, improve proceedings, and coordinate impact monitoring activities. Update reporting and communication tools and formats. Coordinate carbon certification if relevant. Be accountable for the budget & reforecast of the management of the projects.

  • Project development : Develop strategy plans for new and existing projects like new ecosystem restoration projects, aligning with key industry frameworks and/or carbon accounting methodologies. Identify and pursue opportunities to scale projects and collaborate with the relevant departments to activate project scale up and improvement opportunities. Be accountable for regular reporting on progress.

  • Deliverable management : Manage implementing partner and ensure that quality deliverables are provided in a timely manner.

  • Project monitoring: Coordinate and monitor the implementation of data collection with local partner, providing training when necessary. Be accountable for the adaptation and implementation of the data collection forms to the project's local context where relevant. , Be accountable for the consolidation and the analysis of data projects outputs and report to the Manager and the region's Field Data Officer any issue. Support the implementation of the project's impact monitoring strategies.

  • Monitoring, planning and people management : Be responsible for the resource management of the projects (workload, recruitment advice...). Be accountable for the collection of the supplier invoices and the integration in the tool in a timely manner (ERP). Communicate to the finance team if there is any delay.

  • Partnership and representation : Identify, build relationships and supervise local partners (cooperatives, consultants). Represent PUR publicly at conferences, in meetings with existing and potential clients, and with beneficiaries in the field when asked by the manager.


You have solid project management skills: development and implementation of work plans, financial and technical management of contracts, liaison with relevant stakeholders, etc.; You know the field and the local challenges in Ghana; You are passionate about forestry, landscape management, agricultural entrepreneurship, and you want to have a strong impact, this position is for you!

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields including but not limited to sustainability, agriculture, agroforestry, environmental sciences;

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the management of projects or consulting in Ghana and/or field projects implementation worldwide;

  • Experience related to Cocoa supply chain.

  • Knowledge in agribusiness, market access or carbon certification for afforestation/reforestation projects will be a strong asset.

  • Digital Tools: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Kobo, excel, GIS, SurveyCTO and Google Drive;

  • Must be fluent in English and French would be a great asset. 

  • Be able to travel in Ghana.
