Summary of Role:

The Junior Energy Analyst role will be focused on the APAC markets where Mainstream is active. The position does not require previous experience in wind or solar analysis or software.


This is a regional role which involves close collaboration with APAC EAG staff, as well as Development, Procurement, Engineering, and Commercial colleagues in working on Mainstream’s projects in multiple APAC locations. The role also offers the opportunity to work on onshore and offshore wind projects, as well as solar and floating PV.


What You Will Do:

  • Perform wind and solar PV green-fielding analysis.
  • Reviewing of data, energy production reports and site conditions reports for potential acquisition sites.
  • Providing high quality energy analysis deliverables to multiple project teams.
  • Design of optimal site-specific measurement campaigns for wind and solar project sites, including cost/benefit assessments of different technologies.
  • Overseeing installation, on-site validation, maintenance and decommissioning of temporary meteorological stations (including LiDAR units).
  • Analysis and reporting of site measurements including meteorological masts and remote sensing devices.
  • Wind farm layout design, including LCoE layout optimisation. Preliminary solar farm design.
  • Internal wind and solar Energy Production Estimates with the highest possible accuracy, lowest possible uncertainty. These are delivered in accordance with required project timelines.
  • Collaboration with global EAG colleagues, consisting of >20 staff members, to provide continuous quality improvement of all processes. This includes review and testing of EAG’s in-house procedures and tools, including proprietary data management and analysis system (using Python/Django).
  • Follow market trends and remain informed on state-of-the-art industry tools, techniques, and best practices.

The above tasks will be carried out following the Energy Analysis Group’s standards.


What We Require:

  • This does not require previous experience in wind or solar analysis.
  • Graduate with an honours engineering or physical science degree as a minimum. Masters or PhD qualification an advantage.
  • Highly analytical, organised, with attention to detail. Ability to exercise engineering judgement.
  • Self-starter with an inquisitive nature. Able to prioritize, learn, and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong mathematical and analysis background, and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical colleagues are essential.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, especially Excel. GIS familiarity.
  • Experience in the use of Windographer, WAsP, WindFarmer, AWS Openwind Enterprise, PVSyst, Homer or other related wind/solar resource assessment software is an advantage.
  • Experience in the analysis of operational wind farms and/or IEC power curve testing is an advantage.
  • Programming/software development experience is an advantage. Ideally experienced with SQL, Python, PANDAS.
  • Fluency in English. Vietnamese will be an advantage. 
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
