The role

Due to YASA’s growth, we are looking for an individual to design and manufacture software and electrical systems used in automated processes for all YASA products.



Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop automation solutions for process and test equipment used to manufacture YASA’s product range.

  • Continuous improvement and fault identification of existing processes and machines.

  • Supporting PFMEA’s and company procedures.

  • Responsible for the design and detail of software, including PLC, HMI, motion and vision inspection systems.

  • Integration of hardware/software to the production line such as Electric Screwdrivers, HV test and measurement equipment

  • Hands on approach for the build and commissioning of new and existing systems.

  • Responsible for the design and detail of wiring schematics for automation systems

  • Understand design for assembly and constraints for high volume manufacture

  • Provide detail input to the engineering and validation teams to ensure overall automation system design meets requirements for functionality and manufacture

  • Creation of technical documentation to support safe machine operation

  • Support development and improvement of manufacturing processes

  • Liaise with suppliers of automation system components

 

Skills and experience required:

Essential:

  • HNC or equivalent in electrical, electronic or manufacturing systems with considerable experience in a systems design environment

  • Experienced user /programmer PLC / HMI systems and associated hardware

  • Ability to use variety of machine network protocols such as Ethernet/IP,ProfiNET and IO-Link

  • Experience in Electrical Schematic design for automation systems using CAD systems.

  • Experience machine safety systems such as Pilz and EN60204.1

  • Have a strong electrical engineering background, but more importantly, be able to apply knowledge to real world situations.

  • Ability to panel and field wire systems

  • Strong IT knowledge in relation to network development for IOT and Industry 4.0.

  • Good understanding of automation components such as robotics, vision systems, pneumatics

  • Confident working with suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues

  • UK driving licence and be available to support visits to supplier sites.

 

Desirable:

  • Practical knowledge in the design, use, and application of electric machines or rotational/complex components

  • Knowledge of IT Databases such as SQL

  • Experience of working within a TS16949 quality system environment

  • Familiar with FMEAs and robust engineering practices
