An expanded product suite of intelligent, integrated solutions radically lowers the cost and complexity of energy upgrades–including solar, batteries, and EVs–empowering homeowners to be active, resilient, and informed players in the energy market. <h3>The Role </h3>SPAN’s Power Electronics team is looking for an intuitive and multidisciplinary power electronics engineer intern to participate in developing different power converter platforms used in SPAN products. In this role, you will be tasked with researching, designing, implementing, testing, and validating multiple hardware and control designs used in power electronics systems.You will work alongside outstanding Power Electronics Engineers to support the development and research in different fields, such as semiconductors and magnetics simulation and validation, EMC, Controls, and firmware for power converters.You will collaborate with software, firmware, controls, and mechanical teams to implement technologies that electrify the home and delight our customers.<h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Support evaluation, testing, and design of power converters.</li><li>Validate Controls algorithms and support SIL, HIL, and Hardware implementation.</li><li>Conduct circuit and power system modeling.</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external teams.</li><li>Build prototype components and assemblies, optimizing components to meet system requirements.</li><li>Support Lab Test Setups, data collection, and analysis.</li></ul><h3>About You </h3>Required QualificationsWe are seeking modeling interns that meet the following criteria:<ul><li>Passion for clean energy technology and decarbonization </li><li>Pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or equivalent fields.</li><li>Experience with first principles analysis of physical systems</li><li>Excellent communication skills</li><li>Experience in Lab Testing environments with actual hardware prototypes or components.</li></ul>Bonus Qualifications<ul><li>Experience using Python , C++ or C</li><li>Experience with Typhoon HIL .</li><li>Experience working with Grid and High Voltage Simulators.</li><li>Experience with Simulink, PLECS, or PSpices applied to electronics, semiconductor, and magnetic design.</li><li>Ph.D. students or Candidates.</li></ul><div>The hourly wage for this position is $30/hour. </div><h3>Life at SPAN</h3>SPAN embraces diversity and equal opportunity in a severe way.
