SUMMARY

The Estimating Co-Op will collaborate with engineering, construction and business development to gather data (blueprints, specifications, and related documents), identify and analyze requirements (labor, material, equipment and time) to compute cost estimates and draft proposals for projects. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in renewable energy and the desire to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment. Candidates should be self-driven, able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, and comfortable interfacing with various internal departments.

Schedule: Full Time, Hybrid, June- December 2023

This Co-Op will be based in our Chicago Office with a hybrid work schedule. The intern will be reporting into the Senior Cost Estimator in the Chicago office. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position involves supporting and working under an experienced Estimator.
  • Prepare and assist with building the pricing documents.
  • Communicate and follow up with Strategic Sourcing Team/Vendors to request quotes.
  • Maintain files/supportive documents in the estimation team database
  • Helping in uploading the approved budget into NetSuite and Procore.
  • Validating budget to purchased equipment and bids.
  • Perform quantity take-offs

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player.

 Key qualifications as follows:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree, preferably in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or in any related field
  • Proficiency with Excel 
  • Technologically savvy, ability to learn new software tools 
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Equally able to work in a team setting or independently
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects and initiatives
  • Motivated, energetic, willing to learn
