Job Description

At Zero, we are changing the paradigm of how homeowners plan and purchase energy upgrades for their homes. We are streamlining today’s time-intensive and often frustrating process with a self-serve interface that delivers actionable intelligence to homeowners so they can get their projects done without all the hassle.

It’s never been more important to help homeowners understand the health of their home, how it impacts the planet, and to make it easier for them to take action. With Zero, homeowners experience a quick, no pressure, and even delightful experience purchasing upgrades for their home. And by partnering with a trusted network of Trade Partners, Zero helps to facilitate installations for heat pumps, solar panels, and electrical upgrades, giving homeowners a single point of contact through their project.

Who we are

Zero is on a mission to electrify every home to build a happier, healthier world. We’re solving the world’s hardest problem, climate change, and we’re looking to grow our team with similarly minded, passionate change-makers who want to dramatically impact and improve millions of people’s lives.

Born out of previous experience running a contracting business and designing remote-sensing satellites at NASA, Zero is building the toolkit to automate the design of all-electric home energy upgrades and do so fully remotely. We are building a simple experience for homeowners to enable them to plan, purchase, and schedule installations with local, certified contractors within minutes.

Zero is based in Denver, CO, venture-backed, and partnered with the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL). Learn more at zerohomes.io

Who you are

You have a deep understanding of residential energy systems and/or building construction and you’re passionate about helping to improve the health and energy efficiency of homes. You have practical hands-on, in-home experience assessing and designing solutions and have had plenty of experience managing customer relationships. You also have sales or operational experience and you’re looking for a new challenge.  You’re a “doer” type with a bias for action and problem-solving and you’re a team player willing to take on any task that needs to get done. You’re a strong communicator and feel confident interacting with a variety of people. You’re a fast learner and you hold yourself to high expectations. You’re passionate about climate change and want to be part of a team making a tangible impact in improving people’s lives and saving the planet!

What you’ll do

As the first full-time operations hire at Zero, your primary responsibility will be to stand up and maintain critical relationships with contractors and distributors who make installations possible (you will not be performing installations yourself). Leveraging Zero’s software, you will design heat pump systems, accurately quote projects, and provide appropriate scopes of work to contractors. You will be responsible for understanding and effectively incorporating relevant local laws, initiatives, incentives and benchmarking into designs. Working closely with the Founder, you will help build an operations team from the ground up that will include customer-facing, system design, and implementation roles. You work closely with the Founder and our Software team on our next generation software product, filtering and prioritizing critical feedback from the field. You will serve as a subject-matter expert on buildings and HVAC and will generously share your domain knowledge to raise the level of the team. You will be part of building a team that will change the paradigm of home improvement, enabling millions of homeowners to simply electrify their homes and helping thousands of contractors improve their businesses.
