About the role



We seek a highly experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to manage the team and optimize our designs and product performance as well as manage the transition into manufacturing from a technical perspective.  You will manage and collaborate with mechanical engineers, drafters, project managers and outside vendors and consultants as well as the commercial team. As we rapidly grow, you will help create and improve product documentation and build scalable processes, technology, and products.




What you will do

  • Manage the productization of our designs and prototypes into viable cost competitive products for larger scale production.

  • Lead design improvements and validation of mechanical designs for the gravity product line, manage the mechanical engineering team to achieve design release milestones and cost targets.

  • Responsible for providing technical support to the projects and outside vendors, disposition of non-conformities, deviations and corrective action.

  • Provide technical support to the cost controller to allow the generation of estimates at project commencement and for any potential scope changes related to mechanical engineering items.

  • Ensure that the technical team and any 3rd party technical contractors adhere to the overall project quality plan. Provide technical direction to supply chain for the negotiation of the purchase of any goods and services required for the delivery of a project.

  • Develop necessary tools and processes to drive continuous improvement in Energy Vault’s products.

What a qualified candidate should possess

  • 8+ years of engineering experience with industrial products. HVAC exposure a plus.

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or other solid modelling CAD systems as well as FEA experience.

  • BS in mechanical engineering; MS a nice to have.

  • Experience with machine design, industrial applications of systems designed for power generation, distribution, and storage.

  • Exposure to engineering and construction, ideally for renewable energy projects.

  • Working knowledge of hydrogen storage applications highly desired.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, approximately up to 20%.

  • Comfortable in fast-paced, rapid growth environments.
