Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Software Automation Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that automate processes and increase efficiency. The candidate should be experienced in developing and maintaining data acquisition systems, GUI and HMI, test software, controls software, and applications for generating process reports.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain industrial data acquisition systems and database
Design, develop, and maintain software applications that automate processes and increase efficiency
Develop GUI (Graphical User Interface) and HMI (Human Machine Interface)
Develop test software for lab and manufacturing sites
Develop and update controls software
Develop applications to automatically generate process reports
Generate and execute software test/validation procedures
Troubleshoot and debug software applications in house and on site
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve software issues
Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software automation
In-depth experience with GUI(Graphical User Interface) and HMI(Human Machine Interface) development
Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, RS485 etc.)
Experience with Rockwell Factorytalk package or similar products is a plus
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Overall 2-4 years of related industry experience
Minimum 2 of experience in industrial data acquisition or SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition)
In-depth experience with relational database
Strong skills in python, R, and/or other scripting/visualization/business intelligence tools
Experience with developing applications for generating process reports
Ability to troubleshoot and debug controls software applications
Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) is a plus
Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is a plus
Experience with developing equipment test software is a plus
Knowledge of electrical/electronic circuits is a plus
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Location: Fremont, CA
Travel requirement: Up to 25%, domestic and international
Job Type: Full-time
Education: BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related fields.
