Basic Function
The data science intern will apply their skills and knowledge in data science, machine learning, statistics, and programming to develop and evaluate energy/price forecasting models for a specific region or market using a sensor, weather, and market data. The candidate will also explore the challenges in improving forecasting performance, benchmarking competition, and back testing the model with actual data.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create machine learning pipelines for energy forecasting, price forecasting, and anomaly detection including data prep, identifying/processing data quality issues, data cleaning, model training, and tuning the model parameters or features to improve its accuracy or reduce its complexity, validation, and model deployment.
- Applying back testing/validation methods to assess the accuracy of the model using different date ranges, events, and scenarios in the historical data
Benchmarking the model results with other models or baseline methods to measure its relative performance. - Deploy models to production for use of SB Energy’s software/digital platform.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (ongoing) in computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field
- Experience with Python and basic libraries for machine learning such as scikit-learn and pandas.
- Experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks such as XGBoost, PyTorch, or Keras
- Experience with cloud-based ML AI services such as Azure Machine Learning
- Experience using frameworks to automate, accelerate, and sustain the machine learning lifecycle.
