Job Overview
The Technical Coordinator supports the successful operation of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fisheries Program in the Natural Resources Division. This position is responsible for overall support of the MSC Fisheries program across all operational aspects, including client and audit project management, quality assurance, auditor, and stakeholder management. Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Technical Coordinator will execute process improvement projects yielding efficiencies to support program financial and accreditation goals The Technical Coordinator will also manage a portfolio of clients. This is an opportunity to grow with the program and develop expertise in the MSC Fisheries standards for sustainable fisheries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in an evolving environment, can work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere and is enthusiastic about process improvements. This position will report to the Program Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Administrative Project Support
Execute documentation and maintain file systems related to auditing (e.g., work orders, invoices, contracts, reports, project tracking) in compliance with SCS quality management systems and rules of the relevant certification scheme
Manage client billing and vendor payments
Manage and track auditor qualifications and training
Carry out quality and administrative tasks as requested by Program Manager. Assistance includes, but is not limited to, managing documentation submission to e-Cert, communicating with Peer Review College, formatting review of reports, managing stakeholder lists and communications, certificate issuance, etc.
Perform procedural certification review and decision for MSC Fisheries
Process Improvements & Accreditation
Manage the development and execution of projects that increase process efficiencies, reduce timeline delays, cost, and improve overall quality of execution and compliance with accreditation requirements
Manage the development and maintenance of program materials, internal and external communication templates, and report templates
Gain proficiency in relevant accreditation requirements, including the MSC Fisheries Process Requirements, MSC Fisheries Standard, ISO standards, and internal SCS procedures
Assist program in onboarding systems to Salesforce platform
Respond to non-conformities using critical thinking skills to identify and address root causes
Support development of training programs and related materials for auditors
Support Program Manager in training and onboarding new staff
Collaborate on special projects as assigned
Audit Coordination and Planning
Main point of contact for clients, providing advice and assistance in response to operational and technical questions
Manage and coordinate a portfolio of assigned fishery assessments to ensure consistent flow of audit projects and support
Coordinate internal resources and external auditors for project execution
Ensure effective scheduling and planning of assessments
Manage team schedules, workloads, and travel budget
Prepare and set document submission and audit team deliverables deadlines
Follow-up on team submission of deliverables
Monitor and track individual projects’ progress to ensure deliverables meet established timelines
Oversee timeline accountability and procedural compliance
Ensure databases and profiles are updated with relevant project information
Provide guidance to the assessment team and oversee the procedural aspects of the MSC assessment process
Auditing Support
Contribute to the production and completion of MSC fisheries reports for publication
Review reports, ensuring these meet MSC standard procedural requirements
Conduct background research and data analysis on fisheries to support assessment team members, as needed
Participate as assessment team member in MSC pre-assessments as needed
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in fisheries, marine conservation biology, natural resources, environmental management, or relevant field. A master’s degree preferred.
Minimum one years of experience in the fisheries sector in management or research experience in marine conservation biology, fisheries science, or fisheries management
Experience with project management
The initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
Strong initiative, focus and follow-through skills
Fluency in English and work experience that includes professional written communication
Strong problem solving / analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities and the ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
Flexible and willing to perform other tasks as assigned
Proficient with business software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management
Strong attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork orientation

Physical Requirements
This is primarily an office-based job, with occasional travel to client sites. Ability to sit at a computer station and keyboarding for 6+ hours/day, ability to travel via car and plane and carry luggage, ability to walk and stand for 2+ hours/day when auditing. Must be able to speak and listen to employees and customers in person and on the phone.

Pay Range:
$50k - $60K
