Machine Learning Platform Engineer

Rhizome is seeking a ML engineer who can build and scale Rhizome’s machine learning platform and model chain framework. The ideal candidates will have a strong background developing machine learning applications using large geospatial datasets –– particularly in startup environments. This role will report directly to the CTO. 

About Rhizome

Rhizome is a climate resilience SaaS platform that helps utilities, governments, and corporations plan for greater resilience to climate change and extreme weather. Our proprietary climate risk platform applies AI to a vast amount of information that characterizes impact from extreme weather to automate the quantification of current and future climate risks on a geospatial interface of customer assets. As the U.S. experiences record-breaking climate-related impacts, our tool identifies vulnerabilities and empowers our customers to model thousands of scenarios to maximize the protection of communities and businesses.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Build Rhizome’s platform and model chain framework for asset fragility, stressors and socioeconomic consequences.

• Research and implement ML algorithms for resiliency planning in the utility domain.

• Build first in its class operational system for utility customers to quantify the value of resilience and do scenario planning for resilience.

• Build first in its class optimization platform that helps asset managers to reliably plan for climate risk mitigation.

• Perform statistical analysis and tune models accordingly.

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience building and orchestrating ML algorithms with auditability, security & versioning

• 3+ years experience optimizing ML algorithms

• 2+ years experience building large ML production infrastructure

• Ability to write testable and verifiable production ready code in Python

• Hands on with data engineering and infrastructure in AWS

• Experience working and analyzing large geospatial dataset is a huge plus

• Experience using ML on large geospatial dataset is a huge plus
