SUMMARY

We are seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering who is responsible for technical leadership, support, and direction to the Design Engineering team in all aspects of PV and BESS for DG and Utility Scale projects.   

The Director, Electrical Engineering will drive QA/QC and value engineering of all designs to provide quality, safe, high performing and cost-effective designs.  This role requires an experienced electrical engineer with deep knowledge in electrical infrastructure up to 35kV, including in-depth knowledge and expertise in SCADA, protective relaying and controls, and a strong working knowledge in applicable national codes including NEC and NESC.    

As a technical expert in PV and BESS electrical engineering and an organizational leader, the Director of Electrical Engineering will provide mentorship and guidance in SOP development, training, and technical development in all areas of electrical design for the Engineering team.  This will be accomplished through technical expertise, innovative ideas, collaboration with internal stakeholders and establishing personal relationships with the key proponents of in business development, CED operations, grid integration, supply chain, deployment, and asset management.  A balance of soft skills, technical acumen, and an innovative thinker will be empowered to lead the team to be an engineering leader in our industry.    

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Lead Nexamp’s internal electrical engineering department in all phases of solar and energy storage development, construction, and asset management 
  • Lead the department in reviewing electrical designs through all phases of project development, design, and construction, perform advanced electrical modeling, and review equipment test reports and shop drawings 
  • Lead the department in preparing and managing witness test procedures, overseeing commissioning and witness testing in the field, as well as managing team members performing the same duties 
  • Manage departmental and company-level relationships with a network of 3rd party electrical engineers performing design reviews, professional services, PSSE and PSCAD modeling, and relay testing, programming, and commissioning  
  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship to the Engineering team to value engineer all projects so the organization can efficiently and cost effectively build safe and quality DG and Utility Scale commercial solar and storage projects nationwide 
  • Train and mentor engineering department personnel, enabling professional growth, and facilitating company expansion by developing overall team capability  
  • Support the VP, Engineering by providing priorities of work, feedback on initiatives, and establishing new focus areas to drive continuous improvement 
  • Provide senior management and C-level executives accurate and timely engineering analytics and reporting when required 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6 years of relevant electrical engineering experience 
  • 2 years of solar PV experience 
  • 2 years of engineering management 
  • PE License
