About Piclo

The climate crisis means that now, more than ever, we need to act. Here at Piclo, we believe we are not powerless against climate change and are focused on enabling the transition to a decarbonised future. Our team is on a mission to make our energy systems smart, flexible and sustainable.

We’re hiring a Business Operations Associate to work alongside our friendly team of software engineers, product managers, designers and more that are at the forefront of transforming the energy sector.

Who we are looking for

This role sits within the Business Operations Team; you'll work closely with the Senior Operations Manager and will be a crucial member of the compliance and wider operations team. The ideal candidate will be solution-oriented and have a curiosity for technology.

About you

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a business administration role. Previous experience at a tech startup is desirable.

  • Great problem-solving skills paired with intuitive thinking and a natural tendency for analytical approaches.
  • Curiosity, a proactive nature, and a drive to learn are essential
  • Understanding of technology or information security principles, including a broad, high-level understanding of information security policy requirements and compliance
  • Communication and interpersonal skills are essential as the successful candidate will need to collaborate with colleagues across teams to ensure an efficient exchange of information to meet deadlines
  • Some experience in project management/coordination or administrative support required.
  • Previous experience of working in an operational administration and/or business services setting would be beneficial
  • You are an incredibly motivated and organised person. You enjoy the process of prioritising work and setting timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • You’re resourceful, resilient, and flexible, and will help clear the path for everyone to do their best work.
  • You are an excellent communicator who can build relationships with teammates from different disciplines, making sure that everyone is clear about what’s required of them.
  • You are confident and well adept in communicating and collaborating with external stakeholders.
  • You’re fluent in English, even if it’s not your first language.

Also desirable:

  • Experience in scale-up environments.
  • You are motivated by Piclo’s mission to make our energy system smart, flexible and clean.
  • You are naturally empathic and are always mindful of the humans who use and benefit from your work.

About the role

You will be joining a team that works across a range of areas in Business operations, so this role has great potential for the right candidate to grow their level of experience, responsibility, and confidence.

This role will be a first point of contact for the day-to-day running of business operations. This role will:

  • Assist in incident management and escalations as appropriate
  • Support with documentation and recording keeping for company policies as required
  • Collect and enter data into various registers, as required
  • Assist with project delivery and meeting management by helping to follow-up on actions and monitor progress
  • Collaborate across business operations with HR and Finance to promote efficiencies and effectiveness in task management

Additional responsibilities

The Operations team works closely with security/compliance,  IT, Finance, and HR. This role will, from time to time, support cross functional projects with team members in these areas of the business.

There will be an expectation that this role holder travels into the London office  at least once per month for a team day.

What we can offer

  • £32,000 - £35,000, with the ability to participate in the success of the company through its share option scheme

  • A super welcoming, supportive, collaborative and transparent culture where the priority is to help shape your role to find the best balance between what we need as a business and your career progression plans.

Who we are

Founded in 2013 by Andy, Alice and James, we are a quickly growing team of 60+. Backed by Clean Growth Fund and Mott MacDonald Ventures, Piclo is a tech company poised to disrupt the way that electricity grids are run worldwide.

With the rise in demand for renewables and clean technologies, our grids come under more stress and face challenges in maintaining the delicate balance of supply and demand. Piclo Flex smooths out the complex transition, delivering low-cost and resilient grids.

We know “flexibility” can be quite complex to understand at first, here’s a short video that explains “what are flexibility services?

We don’t believe that anyone should be discriminated against for any reason, be that age, nationality, gender, race, sexual preferences, religious beliefs, political leanings or disabilities. We welcome diversity among our colleagues and see it as important that everyone is supported and comfortable working with us. Piclo is expanding internationally, so English doesn’t have to be your first language, but we would like you to be fluent.
