The Role
Due to our continued growth, we are looking for an Indirect Buyer to join the team. Reporting to our Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the procurement of services, plant tools, equipment, office stationery, and canteen supplies.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Stakeholder engagement at all levels both internally and with our external suppliers
- Obtaining supplier quotations for material and service requests, pricing BoM's etc
- Assessing tenders and quotations from potential suppliers
- Negotiate savings / cost avoidance and maintaining the Savings Tracker
- Maintaining internal stakeholders updated on status of orders/deliveries
- Developing supply chain strategy for Indirect commodities
- Researching and evaluating areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible
- Prioritisation of own workload to ensure deadlines are met
- Understanding technical specifications and drawings
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement
- Providing purchasing support and assistance to other departments as required
- Researching and building working relationships with new suppliers and subcontractors
- Assisting with issuing purchasing enquiries and carry out quotation analysis where necessary
Skills and experience required:
- Previous proven experience within a similar role
- Experience working in an automotive or manufacturing environment
- Experience of stakeholder management
- Experience in supplier/customer relationship management
- Understanding of cost drivers in a manufacturing environment and experience in leading cost reduction activities
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively with teams
- Good IT skills including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
