About the position
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to work on our vessel and voyage optimisation products. You will design and implement new features and improvements to existing features based on user, product and business requirements, in collaboration with the team of AI and other departments. You will maintain and improve the quality of our codebase. You will brainstorm ideas and come up with the best technologies to solve problems that appear within our dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will write, test and deploy production code, review the code of other developers, and ensure changes are tracked and documented.
Our products are used by shipping company engineers and captains to optimise the technical operations and navigation of their vessels based on our in-house developed AI and optimisation algorithms. You will need to gain a good understanding of the domain and our research output to design improvements that cover our customers’ needs and make our back-end infrastructure scalable.
Our stack includes Python, TensorFlow, Rust, Java using Spring Boot and React. Our cloud platform is hosted on AWS, and we are in the process of transitioning our infrastructure to container orchestration using EKS.
These include:
Undergraduate/postgraduate degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
3+ years programming experience in Python.
Familiarity with Object-Oriented Design.
Fluency in both spoken and written English.
Good communication skills, guaranteeing effective engagement with AI Researchers, Data Scientists, Business Users and Software Developers on use cases.
Experience with RESTful API such as Flask will be considered an asset.
Knowledge of Git-Like Version Control protocols will be considered an asset.
Familiarity with Unit Testing and Code Review Practices.
Desired, but not mandatory:
Experience in working with data using machine learning tools and data analysis tools like pandas, Sklearn, TensorFlow.
Experience with frontend development frameworks.
Experience with Python to SQL interfaces.
Experience with Docker, Kafka, Airflow or related technologies.
CI/CD pipelining with Jenkins or Travis.
Familiarity with Jira and Confluence suites.
