Company Overview
The SCS Global Registry is a new, groundbreaking platform and clearinghouse for the evaluation, registration and financing of climate mitigation and other sustainability-focused projects that contribute meaningfully to the reduction of global and regional heat, both in the near-term – by 2030 – and longer-term, while providing additional environmental and human health co-benefits in support of SDGs.

The Registry is an affiliate of SCS Global Services (SCS), a California Benefit Corporation and international leader in sustainability since 1984 through standards development and third-party certification.

Job Overview
At SCS Global Registry, we are seeking a proactive and strategic Public Affairs Manager to reinforce our public presence and support our mission of climate mitigation and sustainability. As an integral part of our team, you will build and manage key relationships with stakeholders such as media outlets, NGOs, policymakers, and industry influencers. Your role will be pivotal in shaping our business strategy, requiring regular monitoring and reporting of industry developments, policy trends, and technology innovations. Your responsibilities will span across leading a multi-channel communication strategy, managing our social media presence, creating and distributing impactful content, and coordinating diverse events. Your capacity to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external consultants, alongside proficiency in digital tools like Salesforce and MS Office Suite, will be crucial. The role reports to the Registry's Managing Director. We seek a Public Affairs Manager with a honed ability to balance multiple projects, work independently and within a team, and provide ongoing assessments and insights into our strategic communications and influence efforts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive public affairs strategies, aligning with organizational objectives.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including media outlets, NGOs, policy makers, and industry leaders, fostering favorable public perception.
  • Conduct thorough monitoring of industry developments, technology trends, and legislative changes, leveraging insights to guide strategic planning.
  • Lead a multi-channel communication strategy, leveraging media outreach, social media platforms, stakeholder engagement, and event coordination.
  • Create and distribute high-impact content, such as press releases, website content, annual reports, and other marketing materials, highlighting organizational activities and services.
  • Organize and manage diverse events, including conferences, webinars, stakeholder briefings, and educational programs.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure cohesive and effective communication efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze outcomes of communication efforts, providing reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using various digital tools and platforms, including MS Office Suite and Salesforce.
  • Demonstrate the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, working independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field OR
  • 4+ years of equivalent professional experience AND
  • 5+ years of experience in public affairs, communications, or a related role
  • Familiarity with environmental, sustainability, and/or decarbonization sectors
  • Proven track record of managing successful public affairs or communication strategies
  • Experience in managing media relationships and stakeholder engagement
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Strong networking skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders; ability to attend in-person policy briefings, meetings, and networking events
  • Proficient in social media platforms and trends
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies
  • Mastery of MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel and PowerPoint) with proficiency in Salesforce
  • Understanding of the media landscape and political environment
  • Understanding of policy and legislative issues relevant to the organization
  • Strategic thinker, with the ability to anticipate trends and challenges
  • A team player, able to work well with different groups and levels within the organization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a relevant field
  • Proven experience in policy analysis, legislative issues, or related areas

Working Remotely
At this time, SCS Global Services is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This role will be based out of your home office.

Estimated Annual Salary
$95,000 - $125,000
