Senior Backend Engineer

Volta Trucks, a hypergrowth European Electric Truck Manufacturer, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Digital Platforms team. This role will be based twice a week from our site in the Midlands. 

This is a great opportunity to join us as we enter the next phase of our growth. You will be responsible for building complex subsystem/platform solutions that interacts with the vehicle. 

We would like you to: 

• Conduct system designs using design patterns and SOLID design principles. 

• Build high-quality, production-ready, robust and scalable features for Volta digital products software that ensures stakeholder trust with uncompromising security and privacy requirements 

• Formulate cloud native API contract collaborating with key stakeholders - platform team, cloud operations team, frontend team and product management team 

• Work with the Product team to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and then translate that into a pragmatic and effective technical solution. 

• Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure CyberSec and GPDR practices are followed and implemented as per company policies 

We would like you to have: 

• Strong experience in C#/Python programming languages, SQL & NoSQL database design, and ORM  

• Experience in developing applications using microservices design patterns – CQRS, API Gateway, RPCs – RESTful, GraphQL & gRPC, Asynchronous messaging, Observability, Event driven architecture and others 

• Experience in web technologies like WebSockets, webRTC, APIs, MQTT, CoAP, etc. 

• Solid familiarity with cloud development and large-scale system design 

• Experience in and passion for automotive is a plus
