The Role
We are looking for a People Operations Manager to support the growth of the company through the people dimension of the business. You will manage our human resources operations, including onboarding, performance management, benefits, compensation, payroll, employee relations, and compliance. Reporting to our Controller/CFO you must be able to work a hybrid schedule out of our office in Ridgewood, NJ.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Establish and implement HR programs and policies that effectively communicate and support the company’s business goals, mission, and culture.
- Collaborate across teams to create and administer a memorable onboarding experience to ensure new employees are well-equipped to be productive as soon as possible.
- Monitor and manage employee engagement through Glassdoor and regular surveys; make impactful recommendations to the leadership team based on results.
- Partner with Talent to execute the DEI strategy to attract and retain a workforce that reflects the communities where Scale works and serves.
- Ensure the timely resolution of employee issues.
- Manage employee off-boarding including conducting exit interviews and gathering key themes.
- Evolve and execute the performance management process to ensure it stays relevant to the business, provide ongoing feedback and employee development, and reward results.
- Partner with senior leaders to manage the company wage and salary structure and pay programs.
- Lead competitive market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain great talent.
- Review benefit offerings regularly and ensure our benefits package is equitable and aligned with employees' needs.
- Manage our HRIS to ensure compliance across all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices, across all company locations
- Evaluate and make recommendations on new HR software and PEO based on company growth and needs.
- Develop actionable reporting to enable Scale to proactively address trends and issues across the people dimension of the business.
- Maintain employee files, new hire documentation, and equity agreements.
- Maintain and update the employee handbook and Culture document.
- Support immigration processes as needed.
The Ideal Candidate
- 5+ years of People Operations experience, with a proven track record of success scaling HR operations in a fast-paced, high-growth business.
- Experience with a PEO and transitioning away from a PEO is preferred.
- Prior experience working with both distributed and site-based, operationally-focused teams.
- Work in a helpful, “roll-up their sleeves” manner that is people-centric and non-bureaucratic.
- Demonstrates warmth, empathy, and a level of approachability that encourages leaders and employees to seek him/her out for advice and counsel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Track record of high accountability, with a bias for action.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable, able to thrive in a fast-paced, growing company.
