About the Venture Builder

Zinc, a pre-seed venture capital firm, seeks highly motivated and talented individuals for our next Venture Builder on Environment + Health. The aim is to eliminate environmental threats to our health. To achieve this impact on a global scale, we are seeking 70 individuals with a track record of achievement and ambition. The 12-month, full-time, Venture Builder starts in person at our London HQ in October 2023.

Zinc backs Founders who want to build a new mission-driven business, typically with individuals who are pre-team and pre-idea. Zinc provides support to Founders to build brand new commercial businesses from scratch by providing access to co-founders, up to £250,000 in investment, experts, in-house R&D support and a proven process to launch a new venture.

Since 2017, we have backed over 300 entrepreneurs and supported the creation of over 60 brand-new ventures from scratch.

The Mission: Eliminating environmental threats to our health 

The Founders in this mission will create ventures at the intersection of the environment and health. In order to address the current environmental issues that contribute to the increase in poor health and disease. This demands action to improve all aspects of our environment: soil, food, air, water, and the built environment.

What makes a successful Zinc CEO/COO/CSO co-Founder?

1. You have the ambition to build a scalable commercial business that has massive impact on the mission problem;
2. You have the capability to bring exceptional skills, expertise, networks and insights;
3. You have an entrepreneurial appetite for huge risk taking and the ability to go from 0-1 and then on to global scale.

Requirements:

• We back individual founders. This means you can join without a team, without a business plan and even without an idea. 
• We welcome first-time Founders as well as experienced entrepreneurs as the Venture Builder is for everyone who can bring their expertise and experience to build solutions.
• You are ready to join full-time, in London, from October 2023
• You're interested in building a VC-backed business which on the Zinc platform which can provide up to £250,000 in investment (including a £13,200 stipend for each founder)

Skills & Experience

• Degree-level of education or equivalent experience (desirable disciplines include: environmental sciences, physics, material sciences, geology, civil engineering or other relevant fields)
• Experience working in one of the following fields: clinical, bio-science, digital science, chemistry, public health or a similar field.
• Domain expertise: extensive experience 
• Industry Knowledge: Staying current with industry trends and making informed decisions about the adoption of new technologies/research.
• Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-domain stakeholders
