Summary of Role:
The Finance Team in South Africa is currently looking for a Finance Manager who will focus on monthly financial reporting, statutory reporting, audit and internal controls.
The role includes taking responsibility for controlling the flow of transactions for the local South African group entities. The role will interact with various team members and stakeholders across the business. The role is integral to the team to ensure best practice processes, procedures and controls are in place as the business scales.
This role will work closely with the FP&A manager who will focus on budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management for the local South African group entities.
What you will do:
- Preparation of monthly general ledger postings as well as preparation and/or sign off of general ledger account reconciliations.
- Ensuring the correct allocation of overheads as well as project related transactions.
- Review and confirmation of third party and intercompany invoices including payment processing.
- Month end analytic review and preparing information to be included in the monthly reports for the South African Senior Management Team as well as Group Finance team for consolidation into the Mainstream consolidated accounts.
- Preparation of monthly Management Accounts for Department Heads, ensuring ownership spend within budget is maintained by the Department Heads.
- Assisting with annual budget cycle, supporting the FP&A manager during this process.
- Complete Monthly VAT returns including submission on SARS e-filing.
- Preparation of Annual and Provisional Tax calculations, working closely with local Tax Manager and external tax advisors.
- Manage the annual Audit and preparation of Annual Financial Statements within the required timeframes.
- Ensure all company compliance is in place including tax, annual returns, insurance etc.
- Documenting, streamlining, and automating processes to drive efficiencies and improve key internal controls to allow the business to scale for future growth.
- Responsible for maintaining accounting policies, accounting for technical issues and recommendation for financing structures
What we require:
- Be a qualified CIMA/CA (SA) with 5 years’ post qualification experience
- Experience in the renewable energy industry is highly advantageous
- Be able to work efficiently and to a high level of accuracy
- Audit, financial statement and IFRS experience is key
- Have good attention to detail, is organised and has the ability to meet deadlines which are essential to the role
- Be able to solve problems and thrive in a challenging environment
- Work as a strong team player, maintaining relationship with the Finance team as well as wider business environment
- Act with high levels of integrity and accountability
