Role Description

This is an opportunity to have a direct and daily impact in an exciting energy technology startup.  You will work closely with the product development teams to guide designs to comply with safety and performance standards as defined by UL, IEEE, IEC, IBC, NFPA and others. You will represent Form Energy with industry groups, safety committees, and codes panels to ensure positive outcomes which enable the rapid scale up of this critical technology. You will be responsible for developing regulatory testing protocols which become part of our standard product qualification process and which ensure successful and timely delivery of product certifications. As part of this process, it will be important to develop close relationships with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs). Leading up to product launch, you will be responsible for driving product certifications, including coordination with NRTLs, interpretation of testing results, and design reviews.

What You'll Do:

• Develop and drive the product certification strategy for Form Energy’s iron-air battery cell, module, and system

• Evaluate product designs and provide input to align the design with regulatory standards at an early stage of development

• Define product safety validation testing during the product development process, prior to certification activities

• Represent Form on various industry groups, safety committees, standards and code development panels as needed

• Coordinate with appropriate authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to obtain interconnection approvals for system deployment as required

• Maintain written product requirements documents contain all required regulatory features

What You'll Bring:

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or similar) required

• >3 years direct experience managing compliance for an energy storage, battery systems, or renewable energy product

• >5 years industry experience in a product development setting

• Direct experience in product development within an early stage environment

• Deep familiarity with existings codes and standards and certification processes, especially in relation to energy storage systems

• Experience engaging with or representing on safety and code committees
