Job Description

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.

Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?

Role Description

As Director of Reliability, you will be responsible for developing the tools, methods and processes that Form uses to deliver world-class reliability in our critical multi-day energy storage product. Form’s key value proposition is to provide clean-reliable power to the electric grid when other types of electricity generation are unavailable. Our product is, by definition, a grid reliability product and our development, verification and validation processes need to rigorously ensure our customers can count on Form when needed most. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of the reliability function from physics of failure to manufacturing ORT to field RCAs. Your scope will encompass our product holistically, from cell to integrated system. The Director of Reliability will report directly to the VP of Engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Develop a vision for the reliability function at Form and then build it. That vision should span from design to manufacturing and long-term operation of our power plants.

  • Hire an exceptional team

  • Accelerate Form’s path to scale by rigorously testing, documenting, and educating internal and external stakeholders on Form’s product reliability

  • Build a DfR function at Form that is highly integrated with the product design teams

  • Develop and execute reliability test plans, informed by comprehensive DFMEA, covering Form’s product from electrode to grid interconnection

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of experience (5+ in a leadership role)

  • 5 - 10 years in a reliability function

  • Experience with complex systems involving chemical, material, mechanical and electrical failure modes

  • Experience spanning design to manufacturing

  • Resolute leader who will actively advocate for and champion world-class product reliability

  • B.S. or higher in engineering or physical science(s)
