You will be involved in early-stage engineering and manufacturing builds along with engaging suppliers from prototype volume through high-volume production. You’ll have the chance to work with a cross-functional team including Technical Program Managers, Battery Product Design, and Advanced Manufacturing, as well as numerous other teams to manage the risks associated with early-stage product development.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with suppliers to provide DFM feedback, review injection molding simulation output (ex. Moldflow), and approve tooling via molding trials
Work with design engineering to downselect early design concepts by providing supplier feedback on materials and manufacturing methods
Solicit, compile, and present DFx feedback to the Battery Product Design team from external suppliers to support design concept down-selection
Serve as the voice of the supplier to internal engineering teams for EVT, DVT, and PVT build phases
Support Global Supply Chain Management as the technical point of contact for RFx efforts as well as developing the technical data package used for soliciting bids from suppliers.
Develop custom manufacturing and/or assembly processes to be outsourced to external manufacturing partners
Utilize BOMs, CAD models, and your knowledge of plastics manufacturing processes to develop initial manufacturing cost estimates of parts and assemblies based on market information and supplier feedback
What You'll Bring:
4 + years of experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) in hardware development
Deep knowledge of thermoplastic molding and secondary processes (injection molding, blow molding, spin welding, ultrasonic welding, etc.)
Experience taking at least one new product from the concept phase through production
Experience with product lifecycle management tools (i.e. Arena PLM)
