Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Process Engineer to support our electrolyte production processes for in-house battery prototypes in Somerville, MA. As part of our Development Operations team, you will drive continuous improvement of our processes, prepare and maintain process documentation, and be a champion for safety in the lab and manufacturing space. You’ll work closely with equipment design engineers, cell design engineers, material scientists, operations, facilities, outside consultants, and process technicians. As we design, build, and ramp up equipment operations, expect to become deeply entrenched in the intersection space of equipment design, process engineering, and materials engineering, as the team works with our Electrolyte Development teams to align quality and procedures between lab scale processes and high volume manufacturing processes. What You'll Do:

  • Sustain electrolyte process value stream and integrate new processes and formulations from cross-functional teams

  • Support the technology transfer process between cross-functional groups to align process across between lab-scale and product-intent electrolyte 

  • Define, measure, and track resource needs and quality of processes, and identify and implement process improvements 

  • Establish standard process controls and KPI reports for data monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Prepare and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train technicians, process engineers, and scientists on new manufacturing equipment and processes

  • Work with a diversity of teams inside and outside the company to achieve overall manufacturing success

  • Be a champion for safety in the development of new equipment and processes

What You'll Bring:

  • 1+ years of experience in a process-oriented position in chemical or material R&D lab or pilot production environment  

  • BS required in Chemical Engineering or related field

  • Experience using statistical methods for making process development decisions

  • Experience sourcing and qualifying process equipment

  • Experience designing safe processes involving hazardous chemicals and dusts

  • Strong interdisciplinary communicator, across a range of engineering and business functions

  • Demonstrated track record of innovative development and engineering
