The Building Decarbonization Coalition (BDC) aligns building industry stakeholders with energy providers, environmental organizations and local governments to help electrify homes and workspaces with clean energy. Through convening, policy analysis and consumer awareness building, the Coalition is pursuing fast, fair action to accelerate the development of zero-emission homes and buildings that will help cut one of the largest sources of climate pollution, while creating safe, healthy and affordable communities. 


As a Finance Associate you will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations of our organization. This position involves working closely with the Finance Manager to ensure accurate financial recordkeeping and adherence to financial policies and procedures. The Finance associate contributes to the overall financial health of the organization through effective communication, cross-functional collaboration, financial process management, and accurate bookkeeping. 


  • Partnering closely with the Finance Manager to ensure effective communication, provide meaningful contributions, foster cross-team collaboration, and bolster the organization's financial well-being.
  • Overseeing the Organization's Learning and Development and Home Office Stipend initiatives, involving efficient communication of updates, gathering required documentation, revising relevant policies, upholding compliance with established policies, arranging cards for new team members, and ensuring accurate annual issuance of stipends to team members.
  • Contributing to the effectiveness of the Organization’s Credit Card program by ensuring adherence to policies, communicating timely reminders and updates, collecting necessary documentation, and maintaining precise recordkeeping.
  • Accurately inputting financial information into QuickBooks Online. This responsibility includes overseeing accounts payable processes. Prompt reporting of any outstanding accounts payables and skillfully managing the execution of journal entries when deemed necessary. 
  • Contributing to payroll operations by aiding with payroll-related tasks, including but not limited to accurately inputting payroll journal entries into QuickBooks Online with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Facilitating communication and collaboration between the finance and fundraising teams for the successful management of membership invoices, accurate financial reporting, and effective task communication. 
  • Effectively supporting the Finance Team's contributions to Hubspot. 
  • Supporting in the organization's contracting process, encompassing aid in the initial contract drafting, determining whether the contract pertains to C3 or C4 activities, and contributing to the creation and supervision of a centralized invoice spend-down tool.
  • Participating in collaborative efforts with various teams to assist in maintaining accurate financial records for their events. Which includes accurate recording of expenses and gathering of receipts, and coordinating meetings to reconcile finances between the finance team and the events teams.


  • A passion for building decarbonization, reflected in a clear commitment to the mission and growth of the Coalition.
  • Strong emphasis on collaborative work approach, capable of functioning as an equal colleague and strategic collaborator across different teams.
  • Strong background in financial systems; knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organization and process management skills.
  • Excellent proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Excel.
  • Experience with Hubspot preferred, but not required.
  • 1-4 years of demonstrated experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, preferably at a non-profit organization or philanthropic support organization.
  • A bachelor’s degree in an accounting or related field is preferred but not required for candidates with relevant experience.
  • Experience working in an organization with remote teams and with a remote supervisor.

Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
