Job title: Finance Business Partner

Location: London, Bristol, Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £66,000

Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? 

You will be playing a crucial role in helping Kaluza provide retailers with technology that will change the future of energy. You’ll be working in the Finance Business Partnering team, as part of the wider Kaluza Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Business Partnering, and closely integrated with the financial operations team. 

What will I be doing?

We’re looking for a hardworking, detailed finance professional to help provide strategic advice and analytical support for Finance & Business management.

The Finance Team’s objectives are:

Strategic value; to help build and execute an action plan and to drive Kaluza to its long term commercial and strategic objectives.

Planning; we need to allocate resources beneficially to Kaluza and to introduce clear frameworks to measure ROI.

Financial Control; to ensure Kaluza’s resources are directed, monitored and measured in an accurate and timely manner and to maintain a ‘No Surprises Environment’.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the creation of Kaluza’s budgets and financial forecasts
  • Supporting the business with investment allocation decisions, through;
    • Analysis and recommendation of prospective spend opportunities; and/or
    • Commercial challenge on proposed investments from the wider businesses & initiating change to ensure key operational, commercial and financial targets are delivered
    • Using our financial and operational data to suggest, compare & recommend strategic choices for senior leadership
  • Providing a link between the business and the financial control team to support automation of reporting and streamlining financial operations
  • Working closely with our internal analytics teams, defining the performance metrics we use to hold the business to account, and presenting those metrics to senior management
  • Providing support, as necessary, to our Corporate Finance team with long term capital planning & investor relations.

Is this the job for me?

Ideally you’ll have/be

  • Experience partnering with technology or product functions;
  • Excellent Excel/Google sheet skills with significant experience building financial models
  • Experience building and presenting effective reporting for senior management
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate narratives clearly and concisely to senior stakeholders
  • Proven track record engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • Evidence of high numerate & analytical performance, either from studying, vocational or work experience 
  • You must be able to both tackle complex problems and delve into the detail whilst at the same time always knowing what are the most important areas that will deliver our long term objectives
  • Worked in rapidly changing, high growth environments where effective prioritisation is required and, where you are comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and implementing change

It would be great if you had the following, but it is not essential;

  • Experience within the Energy industry
  • Start-up / Scale-up experience
  • You would have had exposure to;
    • More advanced analytical tooling, for example SQL or Python, such that you can work effectively with Data Professionals
    • Business Intelligence tooling, such as Tableau or Looker, so you can build more effective data visualisations
  • A full or part-qualification as a Chartered Accountant
