Purpose of the position
- The Technical Product Manager, N.A is responsible for Product Management for U.S. Utility products with a primary focus on Medium Voltage Products.
Primary duties / responsibilities
- Manages U.S. medium voltage products as a technical product manager for central inverter-related US market specific-topics.
- Manages and maintain all medium voltage products records and drawings, coordinate with project management, sales, and application teams
- Participates in the project management team for releases and new product development of MV products in the U.S.
- Identifies technical requirements and create requirement papers for U.S. MV products.
- Act as 2nd level support for technical customer inquiries for MV products.
- Reviews manuals, datasheet and collaterals for all medium voltage products and communicate modifications to relevant responsible members.
- Addresses requests for technical clarification and performance related questions from different local teams and be the liaison to engineering resources in SMA Headquarters.
- Performs evaluations of change proposals (feasibility, as well as cost, time and quality impact) for US MV products together with engineering and other functions in the course of expert meetings.
- Participates in Workflow for technical approval and advice with development and engineering teamss
- Conducts competitor research and market monitoring in the U.S. market, to identify trends, opportunities and threats that impact SMA’s utility business.
- Creates product presentations, documentations and customer letters to support the marketing of their products.
- Frequently participate in customer meetings to support sales as technical expert for “their” products.
- Other duties as may be required or assigned.
Required training (type / duration / field / additional training)
- A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent years of experience.
Required relevant professional experience (type / duration)
- At least 3 years of technical focus on power engineering.
Other specialized skills
- Excellent communication and project management skills, a structured and analytical way of working
- Highly customer and success-oriented, flexible and able to work as part of a team
- Organized, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy are required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) is required.
- Proficiency with SAP is a benefit.
- This position requires periodic domestic and international travel.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is required. German language skills are a plus.
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 annually.
