Associate Bioinformatician - 12 month contract

Are you used to monitoring the progress of complex processes, paying attention to details, and persisting in investigating anomalies? We are looking for a motivated Associate Bioinformatician to join the Bioinformatics scrum team on a 12 months fixed term contract.
Job Purpose
The Associate Bioinformatician will support our efforts in preparing data for the GEiGS® BioCompute platform (https://www.geigs.com/). As part of this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers and biologist researchers and technicians to deliver high-quality data on time to internal and external clients.
Responsibilities
Support the team by generating, curating, and consolidating high-quality genomic annotations.
Assist in the design and implementation of data structure & data management processes.
Support the GEiGS® team analysing and interpreting results and giving recommendations if applicable.
Contribute to the development and improvement of good practices, including designing QA tests and generating test data.
Support Bioinformaticians through code review and peer coding.
Requirements
Essential:
Technical
BSc/MSc in Bioinformatics or in Biology, Genetics, or a related subject with a bioinformatics module.
Direct hands-on experience with bioinformatics and genomic analysis.
Strong understanding of scientific research methods.
Familiarity with navigating and querying the main public omic databases and knowledge base.
Understanding of the basics of Python coding or other language.
Transferable
Strong and clear written and oral communication skills to allow the exchange of information with people representing a wide diversity of disciplines and levels within the organization.
Excellent organisation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment while consistently maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Good team player, strong execution, and have flexibility to handle changes.
Desirable:
1-3 years of experience in an industry setting.
Knowledgeable in gene editing in plants.
Experience with genomic and NGS data.
Experience in handling and transforming large and complex datasets.
Familiarity with Scrum Agile principles.
Knowledge of GitLab or other versioning control system.
Basics in Python coding or another language.
Understanding of cloud computing environments.
