Social Media Specialist (Volunteer)

Note: The following is an opportunity for flexible, part-time, volunteer work to address climate change. Please DO NOT APPLY if you are only looking for paid employment. A 6 months commitment is preferred. This is a remote-from-home position. 

Do you have 1+ years of experience in social media? Do you want to make a difference in the climate crisis? Are you motivated by working with smart and talented individuals who are creating a better world? Can you commit approximately 3 - 5 hours a week, working remotely on your own schedule with our far-flung, diverse team? If so, we would love to chat about your help and unique talents.

We are looking for action-oriented individuals who are excited to address climate change. As a startup, we are looking for people who will help build and scale our impact and at the same time are willing to roll up their sleeves to get stuff done! This is an opportunity to be part of an organization where you can have a direct impact, grow your experience, and have the flexibility to fit the role into your life.

Responsibilities

• Content Creation and Curation: Develop and post quality content for the 40,000+ social media followers in order to spread positive messages, improve lives, and help people act on the climate crisis. This content could include images, videos, infographics, and updates about the app’s features or promotions. Post 1 - 2 times per week (or more if you like).

• Community Management: Actively engage with the app's community on social media. This involves responding to comments, messages, and reviews, as well as proactively starting conversations and building relationships with users.

Experiences useful in this role

• Familiar with Instagram, Twitter, Threads, Tiktok, Facebook, and/or LinkedIn.
• Managing and growing a brand’s presence on platform.
• Ability to take initiative, learn new things, and apply them.
• The ability to edit images or videos using software like Photoshop or Canva or the desire to learn more about it.
• Proactivity in coordinating and motivating colleagues.

Expectations

You will work remotely and on your own schedule. Roles work best with a minimum commitment of 6 months for 3 - 5 hours a week (or more if you like!). Because our all-volunteer team is spread throughout the world, we rely mostly on a combination of Slack, Github, and video calls to communicate.

If you possess a high level of self-motivation, work well in teams, enjoy the opportunity to partner with like-minded individuals, and can commit quality time per week to help achieve team goals, we would love to hear from you.
