THE OPPORTUNITY
This role presents a distinctive chance to build a never-before-seen technology poised to shift the dynamics in climate action. You will be our first hire and will play a core role in designing and building Subtidal&rsquo;s Ocean Carbon Sensing Grid, the first solution for measuring, analyzing, and reporting on ocean carbon sequestration, accurately, in real-time, and at scale. ABOUT THE ROLE
Location: Falmouth, MA onsite OR hybrid remote with 3 days onsite per week.
Subtidal is seeking an Embedded Systems &amp; Electrical Engineer to assist with the fabrication, demonstration, and validation of an autonomous, field-deployable Ocean Carbon Sensing Grid. We have a strong interdisciplinary focus, and a successful applicant will have essential responsibilities in embedded systems and electrical engineering, with a desire to learn from and engage with other team members, with the following responsibilities:
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Owning the overall hardware electronics implementation for Subtidal products.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Designing and developing PCB schematics and layouts using CAD software tools.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Developing firmware for microcontrollers using programming languages such as C/C++ and Python.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Creating and maintaining documentation, including schematics, bill of materials, and assembly drawings.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Leading cross-functional design reviews to ensure the designs meet performance and reliability requirements.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Generating ideas, designs, and plans on how to take the next generation of Subtidal&rsquo;s Ocean Carbon Sensing Grid and future ocean monitoring solutions to the next level.&nbsp;</li>

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Bachelor&rsquo;s or higher level of education in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">2+ years experience in embedded systems development and PCB design (ideally in the context of wirelessly connected/IoT devices)&nbsp;</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Strong knowledge of wireless electronics, including digital and analog circuits, microprocessors, and other electronic components</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Experience with board bring-up and soldering of SMT components</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Proficiency in firmware (FW) development: skilled in writing and debugging FW using programming languages such as C/C++, as well as experience using debug probes and command line tools</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Skilled in troubleshooting and identifying issues with PCB/FW, and able to propose and implement effective solutions</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Familiarity with Git or another version control system</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1">Passion for climate and the oceans</li>
