Job Overview
Flux Marine is seeking an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to join our Advanced Development Group that is responsible for early-stage new product development and prototyping. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical design, software and testing engineers and have full visibility to the whole product development cycle. Core responsibilities include hardware design for traction inverters, dc/dc converters and other power electronics for our high voltage outboard motors. As a part of this role, you will have visibility into the other projects in development at the company and will regularly engage with the executives and founders on the progress of your work.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Traction inverter hardware design, schematic/layout, component selection and bill of materials generation.
- Evaluating and sizing the IGBT power modules and matching to electric machines.
- Collaborate with EMC team to assure regulatory compliance, functional safety with embedded software team.
- Inverter problem debugging and failure analysis.
Qualifications & Experience
- A BS degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field. Graduate degrees are a plus.
- 5+ years of experience with traction inverters design.
- Advanced PCB design and embedded systems development experience.
- Familiarity with IGBT power modules, gate-drivers and automotive level processors designed for traction inverters.
- Standard communication protocols, including CAN BUS, SPI and I2C and supporting electronics design.
- Experience on hardware development in context of ISO 26262 and ASIL.
- Ability to create simulation models with MATLAB/Simulink.
- EMC mitigation and PCBA quality control methods, experience on battery management systems are a plus.
- Excellent grasp of the fundamentals of electrical engineering and safe working procedures.
- Self-motivated worker with strong attention to detail.
