About the Position

YouSolar makes the PowerBloc®, a solar and battery system that can power a home or business independent of the electrical grid. The PowerBloc is no ordinary solar-battery system. Its innovative design creates a new paradigm for the world's electrical infrastructure. It allows nearly unlimited use of solar energy for affordable, clean, and resilient power in a changing world. As homes and businesses electrify, YouSolar leads the industry in whole-home power.

Our customers are affluent, self-reliant, and uncompromising. They do not tolerate power outages and want a reliable and clean power supply with little or no dependence on utility power. Some are building all-electric homes with EV charging in remote locations and want to avoid paying tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars for a utility upgrade or new connection. Others rely on the PowerBloc to protect their property by reliably powering wildfire suppression systems.

Headquartered in the Bay Area, we have made a name for ourselves with forward-thinking architectural firms, builders, and electricians in Northern California.  These partners refer their clients to YouSolar for clean and resilient power. We have built a database of high-end architects and builders in the Western United States and are ready to expand our geographic reach.

We seek an experienced business development professional passionate about sustainable architecture and with strong contacts in the high-end residential construction industry to generate leads, drive sales, and systematically build a referral partner network in strategic areas of California and other states. You must be able to get into doors, sell a new way of life and vision of a better future, and use the features of the PowerBloc to solve our customers’ power needs.

You will visit stunning properties in picturesque settings, from serene vineyards to dramatic cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Solutions for these high-end homes will be unique, and selling a PowerBloc to these customers will require creativity and confidence. You will collaborate with some of the biggest names in architecture and home construction.

Independent power and whole-home power are novel. As our Sales Director, you will create and shape an industry.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve quarterly sales targets and annual plans.
  • Identify, select, and onboard channel partners.
  • Develop and nurture leads.
  • Proactively contribute to developing marketing campaigns and collateral.
  • Enable and train partners to understand and communicate the YouSolar advantage.
  • Manage key accounts.
  • Build and maintain expert-level knowledge of market trends, safety regulations, tax incentives, and standards relevant to our industry.
  • Provide feedback to the product team on customer, partner, and general market requirements and trends.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience with a track record of meeting and exceeding targets.
  • 3+ years of experience in real estate, residential solar, or a closely related industry, selling high-value technical products that require installation from a professional and some degree of pre- and after-sales support.
  • Proven ability to generate leads and manage a sales pipeline.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability and discipline to work independently and semi-remotely and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional business manner, positive energy, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Desire and ability to travel up to 50%, initially primarily in Northern California but later along the West Coast and in the Intermountain West.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tech-savvy, including familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) systems and Google products.
  • Familiarity with residential or commercial building construction.
  • Experience in the battery storage industry.
  • Understanding of electricity, electricity metering, and electric utility rate structures.

As Director of Sales, you will be our face to customers and partners. Your interaction and presentation will build, define, and elevate our brand. This is a key hire for YouSolar, and you will become an important executive team member. Your ability to sell the PowerBloc is critical to our success. You must excel in managing expectations, closing sales, and keeping track of growth goals. You must present yourself well, be self-motivated and results-oriented, and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment and with challenging projects.

To effectively sell the world's most sophisticated, modern, and powerful independent power solution, you must be excited to learn the basics of power systems to communicate our differentiation and capabilities. You will be in active contact with our product team, constantly learning from them and providing feedback to them.

You must be ambitious to meet and exceed targets. But in everything you do, our customers come first. They are not always right, but they can trust you to provide a solution in their best interest. Integrity and kindness are as essential as your knowledge and drive.

This role offers great flexibility and combines presence in our office in Santa Clara, California, remote work, and meetings with partners, customers, and prospects at their offices and homes.

Compensation 

The compensation comprises a base salary, commission, and stock options:

  • Base Salary: $120-150k
  • Commission: Target $150,000 per year
  • Stock Options: Proportional to the Sales
