About the Job

Summary

World Resources Institute (WRI) seeks an experienced Fundraising Senior Consultant to support P4G in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support the initiative’s mission and goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in securing funding opportunities, managing proposals, and guiding strategic fundraising initiatives aligned with organizational objectives of nonprofit organizations working on climate and international development. This role will support P4G's mission of promoting green and inclusive growth in low- and middle-income countries. WRI intends to award an individual consultant a one-year time and materials contract to support P4G with these fundraising efforts.

Program Overview

Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) assists early-stage climate businesses in becoming investment-ready and supports national climate platforms working in food, water, and energy systems. Hosted by the World Resources Institute (WRI) and funded by Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Republic of Korea, P4G provides grants, technical assistance, and government support to green growth partnerships in ODA-eligible countries. Since its inception in 2018, P4G has contributed to climate transitions in partner countries including Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, and Vietnam, by improving enabling systems and sharing learnings across these nations. Each partner country has established a National Platform to engage public and private stakeholders and progress partnerships. The overarching goal of P4G is to scale successful models and solutions to make a significant impact on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Fundraising Strategy, Planning and Implementation:
    1. Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising plans and strategies to secure financial support for P4G, aligned with the P4G’s growth and scaling strategy and with WRI’s global development and Centrally Managed Donors strategies.
    2. Research and map potential donors and funding opportunities among climate-interested prospective funders, including governments, multilateral organizations, philanthropies, and the private sector.
    3. Generate a pipeline of funding opportunities, write compelling grant proposals, and manage the grant application process to secure funding aligned with P4G's mission and goals.
    4. Assist P4G with fundraising calls, events, and engagements to increase visibility and garner support from prospective funders.

  1. Process Management and Reporting:
    1. Create, monitor, and report on fundraising budgets and financial performance, tracking progress towards financial goals and ensuring transparency and accountability.
    2. Manage donor databases and maintain accurate records of donor information and financial transactions to support effective fundraising operations.
    3. Advise on contract terms and financial requirements in negotiations with prospective donors in coordination with WRI policies and teams, to meet programmatic financial goals and requirements effectively.

  1. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
    1. Collaborate with the P4G team and leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational objectives, ensure integration of fundraising strategies with programmatic activities, and mentor colleagues on best practices for successful fundraising.
