Job Description

About the role:

The South Australia Region of Acciona is seeking to engage a Safety Manager to deliver the Regional Safety Strategy on a large scale project. We are adding a new position to the team in South Australia as we continue to grow in the region. Initially this position will be based on a current project in Adelaide with the view to move onto a new project once you are up to speed with our systems and process.

As the Safety Manager on a large infrastructure project you will be accountable for a Safety Management plan that aligns with the business and project goals. You will be engaging, interacting, inspiring, and influencing Senior Leaders in project delivery including front-line team members.

You will focus on building OH&S capability, reducing duplication, minimising complexity, and growing and developing our project team members.

Typical Responsibilities include:

  • Building safety capability with a focus on contemporary thinking and approaches to enhance safety performance across the project
  • Develop and shape the Safety Management Plan to mitigate risks and enhance safety performance
  • Identify and drive safety initiatives, innovations, and technology to lead industry best practice and enhance productivity outcomes
  • Drive safety excellence by designing, developing, and improving OH&S programs and processes
  • Conduct regular risk management, governance, and assurance activities, including safety audits, inspections, risk reduction networks, risk workshops, and leadership forums
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
  • Analyse safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.

Required Skills and Competencies

Experience and Capabilities we are looking for:

  • Tertiary degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Extensive experience in construction safety management, with a strong understanding of construction processes, equipment, and hazards
  • High levels of agility and problem solving to drive OH&S strategy and execution
  • Developed leadership, coaching and mentoring skills coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal safety regulations and requirements
  • Flexibility to work on site and travel if required
