The Role

We are currently seeking an Associate / Senior Associate Geotechnical Engineer, with extensive experience in site investigations to join our Geotech team in Sydney and assist with the delivery of major infrastructure geotechnical site investigation projects.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery and project management of site investigation works across major infrastructure projects - roads, railways, energy and water
  • Data interpretation and providing engineering reports and recommendations based on investigation data
  • Assist with business development activities
  • Building SMEC's reputation locally, nationally and internationally as a leading consultant with a strong reputation for innovation, technical excellence, quality and project delivery.
  • Building strong and sustainable relationships with existing or new clients
  • When required, providing project governance, at project director level, to achieve reliable project performance in terms of sophistication, timeliness and quality
  • Supporting our regional management team in Australia to provide leadership to employees to ensure cohesion, optimal performance, resourcing, retention and professional development

About You

  • Relevant engineering degree with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering/Geology
  • 10+ years industry experience
  • Experience delivering detailed design/modelling, proof engineering and site investigation works across civil infrastructure projects
  • Experience of slope risk assessments, slope remediation designs and geotechnical tunnelling
  • Project Management knowledge/experience and ability to manage client relationships and expectations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a diverse and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international)
