Job Description
The Project:
The Sydney Metro West – Central Tunnelling Package project includes the delivery of twin 11 kilometre tunnels and excavation of five station boxes at Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays.
This new underground metro railway will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, with a target travel time of about 20 minutes between the two centres.
The Opportunity:
We are after an experienced Site Engineer to provide direct engineering and technical support to the construction team that will contribute to the successful delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily construction activities to ensure project milestones are achieved
Monitor and report the performance of the workforce and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to technical, program, quality, environmental, safety, and commercial standards
Attend design reviews and provide input on constructability, temporary works designs, safety, site access, and related issues.
Create, monitor, and control project schedules
Plan and implement site establishment activities, ensuring compliance with site-specific and contract requirements, including location, fencing, signage, environmental, and traffic conditions
Identify, analyze, and mitigate potential risks, maintaining a risk register and initiating corrective actions as needed
Manage changes to scope, deliverables, schedules, and budgets
Analyze variances, trends, risks, and opportunities, and highlight significant operational performance issues to management
Required Skills and Competencies
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field with relevant professional certifications
Prior experience working on major infrastructure projects
Proven experience in on-site engineering roles, demonstrating a strong understanding of construction processes
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills in dynamic construction environments
Effective communication skills to liaise with project stakeholders, teams, and regulatory authorities
