Job Description

To reduce our dependence on rainfall and groundwater and support the growing population, Water Corporation has formed the Alkimos SeaWater Alliance, which includes ACCIONA Construction Australia, ACCIONA Agua and Jacobs.

The Alliance will design, construct, operate and maintain the Plant which will produce 50 billion litres of drinking water per year, with provision to expand by an additional 50 billion litres per year in the future. Construction of the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant has recently commenced and the project is expected to be completed in 2029.

We’re seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Lead to join our team. This exciting role will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project meets the highest sustainability standards and integrates best practices throughout the construction lifecycle

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, communicate, and drive implementation of the Project's sustainability aspirations.
  • Build, coach, and supervise a high-performing team (including consultants/sub-contractors) to deliver an ISC rating.
  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with the Client and their representatives.
  • Support delivery of innovation and change management.
  • Manage and co-ordinate sustainable reporting protocols to meet parent company aspirations and Client obligations.
  • Communicate Project sustainability targets and develop a suite of Plans.
  • Manage the performance and professional development of the Sustainability Team.
  • Provide technical advice and collaborate with design and construction teams to plan, meet, and drive outcomes.
  • Co-ordinate the development of training, education, and project improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in external stakeholder groups and knowledge sharing across the project's portfolio.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering or Environmental Science or similar
  • Demonstrated capacity of managing ISCA throughout the project lifecycle
  • Demonstrated capacity of managing and achieving a Green Star rating
  • Construction Induction Training (CIT/’White Card’, formerly a ‘Red Card’), obtained via face-to-face training, not online
