About the Job

The Role:
Pachama is looking for a Project Success Lead to manage the implementation of our carbon projects across Mexico and the US. In this role you’ll be responsible, alongside our Origination Operations team, for planning, supporting and managing execution of all project implementation and oversight activities. You will help to build holistic strategies for project success and quality, deepen our relationships with project partners, improve our standards and procedures, and provide oversight to ensure that our Originals projects are on track to issue the highest quality credits.

You would be excited about this role if you love the idea of working on the ground with diverse stakeholders, and managing complex projects. You have experience developing forest carbon projects, exceptional project management and partnership skills, and a hunger for impact.

Location: This role is fully remote. However, being located in North America is required given that the role will involve frequently traveling to project sites.

About Pachama:
Pachama harnesses AI and satellite data to empower companies to confidently invest in nature. Using the latest technological advances, Pachama delivers continuous insight into how forests sequester carbon, protect wildlife and benefit local communities. These insights enable leading companies to find the world’s best projects and track their impact over time while also helping land stewards earn an income protecting nature with tools to develop carbon projects and secure funds.

What You Will Help Us With:

  • Manage relationships with local implementation partners and other stakeholders, including collaborating on strategies and plans for forest restoration activities, stakeholder engagement and social and ecological monitoring.
  • Project manage timelines and coordinate with internal and external teams to execute a range of tasks necessary at each phase of carbon project development, including field data collection, engaging with landowners and other stakeholders, tree planting and other project activities, co-benefit monitoring
  • Manage and/or provide feedback on the development of  PDDs, adaptive management plans and other key project documents.
  • Provide project oversight, including conducting site visits, managing partner progress reporting and monitoring of key project success indicators, to ensure high quality implementation of activities and report on success against milestones.
  • Manage project data, ensure alignment with registry and methodology standards and organize and/or support project validation, verification and registration activities.
  • Source and share information needed to bring projects to life and provide transparency for customers, investors and other internal and external project stakeholders

Experience & Skills We’re Looking For:

  • University degree or equivalent experience in environmental science or other related fields
  • On-the-ground experience developing and/or providing oversight to forest carbon projects, preferably under Verra for conservation and reforestation projects
  • Exceptional project management skills to define tasks, track progress, manage timelines and ensure accountability.
  • Proven track record of successfully engaging with diverse external partners and stakeholders, including navigating complex and/or sensitive situations.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback in a construction manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in Spanish and English required
  • Ability to effectively operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving, ambiguous, team environment
  • Resourcefulness and tenacity with a strong sense of curiosity and passion for learning
  • A willingness to travel

Even if you don’t meet all these requirements, we encourage you to apply if this job description excites you. We are looking for ambitious people to help make an impact on climate change. That purpose requires us to bring together a diverse set of people with different backgrounds, perspectives, and skills to create solutions that work for all.
