The Advanced Engineering team is responsible for product development prior to a formal program kick off.  We develop the engineering solutions and technological innovations necessary to enable exceptional freedom of product design.  As a Senior Mechanical Engineer on the Advanced Engineering team, you will architect vehicle concepts to help realize groundbreaking products for the future of electric vehicles.

This role will be filled by someone who specializes in at least one area of automotive mechanical engineering such as structures, chassis, suspension, or battery and has the vision to apply that specific specialty to the broad perspective of full vehicle attributes and requirements.  The ideal candidate will be an engineer who is passionate about engineering, strives for excellence, manages uncertainties, works collaboratively, and has the willingness to put in the extra effort to create exceptional products.

Role:

  • Develop vehicle architectures form a blank page to concept design and engineering validation.

  • Optimize mechanical, structural, and systems architectures for size, weight, performance, and cost.

  • Quickly CAD/sketch parts for systems across the vehicle which may include body structures, chassis, suspension, battery, interiors, and exteriors.

  • Deduce options for engineering trade studies and business case scenarios.

  • Work cross-functionally with hardware design experts and attribute owners across the company such as vehicle safety, vehicle dynamics, NVH, durability, and manufacturing.

  • Navigate flexibly through assumptions, ambiguity, and preliminary requirements of the concept phase.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience

  • Automotive experience specialized in structures, chassis, suspension, battery, or systems engineering.

  • Experience in automotive component manufacturing processes such as extrusions, castings, stampings, injection molding, etc.

  • Proficiency in CAD modeling.  CATIA V5/V6 preferred.

Advantages:

  • Experience in defining vehicle architecture, product attributes, and engineering requirements

  • Understanding of vehicle crash safety principles

  • Understanding of NVH and durability principles

  • Knowledge of automotive industry joining technologies

  • A strong understanding of physics and material science

  • A familiarity with various analysis and optimization tools such as ADAMS, ANSYS, OptiStruct, MatLab, LS DYNA, etc.

 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

 

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$133,400—$183,480 USD
