Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to provide quantity take-off and estimating support to our projects. This role involves developing and maintaining standard estimating work processes, as well as planning, coordinating, and executing company standards for estimating systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop cost estimates and coordinate proposals for assigned estimating projects.
- Provide area-specific forecasts and report project status.
- Manage multiple bids and serve as a liaison between the estimating team and the VP.
- Revise estimates and implement required changes.
- Maintain client relations by being the lead contact for proposals.
- Ensure bid formats meet client standards.
- Evaluate customer requests for Tender/Bid/Quotation documents.
- Identify and understand customer requirements for bid purposes.
- Coordinate bid inputs from all organizational departments.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to gather pricing on labor, materials, and other costs.
- Participate in pre- and post-bid meetings as required.
- Log proposals and tenders into the Global Star database for cost tracking and historical information.
- Serve as a liaison for Project Management when a tender is awarded and becomes a job.
- Review, provide feedback, and evaluate the performance of Estimators and Sr. Estimators.
- Market the company's services to existing and potential clients.
Planning:
- Ensure the development and maintenance of company standards and resources for quantity take-off and estimating services.
- Provide a structure that facilitates a coordinated effort to ensure the proper resources are available at all times to project teams.
- Assist in the recruitment of new estimating resources as necessary.
- Coordinate with the quality management group to ensure standards, policies, and procedures are available for the estimating group.
Quality Control:
- Develop quality standards and monitor compliance through all phases of quantity take-off and estimating processes in coordination with the quality management group.
Required Skills and Competencies
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a similar field.
- Good knowledge of planning and construction methodologies.
- Solid understanding of ground conditioning and TBM ground conditioning systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- At least 10 years of estimating experience on projects using different tunneling methods for various uses, including metro, rail, highways, and utilities.
