Job Description
AECOM’s Disaster Recovery Division is seeking a creative Growth and Strategy Leader to help promote AECOM’s Disaster Recovery services to local, state, and federal clients across the western United States. The Growth and Strategy Leader will be accountable for the development of business opportunities by networking with government agency clients to advance growth and profitability of the Division for Disaster Response, Recovery, Planning, and Grant Management opportunities.
The Growth and Strategy Leader will help effectively build, grow, and execute disaster recovery related programs. The Growth and Strategy Leader will possess knowledge of and significant experience with FEMA and/or HUD related disaster programs such as the Individual Assistance, Public Assistance, CDBG, and CDBG-DR programs for mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. This position can be based in, but not limited to: Baton Rouge, LA; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Denver, CO; Sacramento, CA; and San Diego, CA.
Job Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- In conjunction with the Division Manager, assist in the development and drive the execution of the Division’s growth strategy/plan.
- Develop and implement additional marketing strategies/plans.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff who support project execution and growth/business development activities.
- Monitor legislation and federal funding allocations to identify opportunities that are suited to the Division’s core capabilities.
- Anticipate opportunities and trends in the industry, market sector and in adjacent market sectors to identify opportunities for growth.
- Drive growth and a maintain an understanding of local/state government contracting and procurement processes.
- Coordinate with other business lines and region resources to best position AECOM to capture work.
- Identify and build pipeline of identified opportunities to meet operational and revenue goals.
- Update and maintain opportunity tracking database.
- Cultivate a network of client relationships to appropriately pre-position for identified opportunities.
- Identify new, key prospective clients. Establish contact with potential clients, meet with and effectively sell AECOM’s Disaster Recovery services to same.
- Leverage existing agency contracts and relationships to advance AECOM’s contracting interests with a focus on extending market presence and growing work pipeline.
- Build strong relationships and interact regularly with teaming partners, industry groups and stakeholders within the Disaster Recovery industry.
- Serve as an ambassador for the Division within the Disaster Recovery industry and with AECOM’s network of resources.
- Analyze prospective opportunities from a risk/reward perspective and drive go/no-go decisions and pursuit planning - including recommending teaming structure, providing insight into positioning compared to competitors, and leading risk committee presentations where this analysis is presented for consideration.
- Oversee the development of capture strategies and lead or direct pursuits including capture planning, proposal development and provide insight into fee development (as appropriate) for same
- Draw in technical expertise from across the organization to support pursuits.
