At Greenlyte Carbon Technologies, you will be responsible for our Automation and Controls. How you'll contribute
You'll play a crucial role in our Automation & Controls, bringing your deep experience in controls to implement groundbreaking products and automation to streamline how we assemble and test these products.
Here's what the first 12 months in the role could look like:Months 0-3: Quickly acclimate to our processes, taking full ownership of a Pilot Plant, including the commissioning of pumps, sensors, fans, and other equipment. Begin optimizing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging your strategic approach to identify immediate areas for improvement.
Months 3-6: Develop and execute plans for the automation of various processes, including the integration of interfaces with database management systems to improve data management capabilities. Ensure the stable and long-term operation of the Pilot Plant, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvements and operational excellence.
Months 6-12: Lead the design of system architecture and define control standards to ensure efficient and reliable operations. Fully commission plants, utilizing your strategic mindset to deliver innovative solutions that meet project objectives and drive team success. About you
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or computer science.
- 5+ years of automation experience in a manufacturing and production environment.
Preferred Skills and ExperienceWe are looking for candidates who are not only highly skilled and reliable performers but also excel in strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving.
- Design & Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to lead iterative design and manufacturing processes with a strategic approach, solving complex problems with simple, effective solutions during both design and implementation phases. Adherence to ISO 13849 safety standards is essential; familiarity with international standards such as ANSI, RIA 15.06, and OSHA is a plus.
- Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to foster collaboration and work effectively within diverse teams. Proven experience in managing multiple tasks under pressure in dynamic environments, contributing to team objectives while also driving innovation.
- Fieldwork & Hands-On Tasks: A proactive approach to fieldwork and hands-on tasks, with significant experience in industrial environments, contributing to practical, on-the-ground improvements.
Industrial Software:- PLC & Safety Programming: Expertise in PLC programming using Structured Text according to IEC 61131-3 standards, with a focus on developing modular, scalable code. Proven ability to implement innovative solutions that enhance system performance.
- Industry Experience & IoT: Extensive experience in power plant or chemical process industrial systems, with a strategic understanding of IoT applications, including Python, HTML, Java development, communication protocols, cloud computing, and database management systems.
- User Interfaces & Networking: Strong skills in HMI, SCADA, and Ignition systems, emphasizing user-friendly navigation and machine health monitoring/control. Deep understanding of Field Bus Networking protocols such as EtherCAT, Profinet, Profisafe, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus.
Electrical:
- Schematics & System Design: Proficiency in creating and interpreting electrical schematics and single-line diagrams (EPLAN preferred), with experience in commissioning high-quality electrical panels and electro-mechanical systems, prioritizing safety and reliability.
- Testing & Safety Standards: In-depth knowledge of electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies) and ISO 13849, ensuring rigorous compliance with control system safety standards.
- Motor & System Sizing and Troubleshooting: Expertise in electrical sizing of motors, cables, circuit protection, VFDs, motor starters, and various motion systems; designing fail-safe electrical circuits using safety logic controllers and safety-rated relays.

- This role cannot be done remotely. We require someone who lives within commuting distance to Essen or is open to relocate which we are happy to support.
