Fall 2024 Cybersecurity Intern

Overview

NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. Today, our team of more than 700 lawyers, scientists, economists, policy advocates, communications experts, and others work across the United States and the globe from our offices in Beijing; Bozeman, Montana; Chicago; New Delhi; New York; San Francisco; Santa Monica; and Washington, D.C.

NRDC is seeking a Cybersecurity Fall Intern to work with the IT team associated with our NY office. This is a hybrid and paid internship of $6k-$10k. $6k will be provided to undergrads and $10k to graduate students.

Position Summary

To qualify for this cybersecurity internship, candidates must have a strong interest in cybersecurity frameworks and layers, sound knowledge of computer networks and systems, and some programming skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Hands on documentation of Cybersecurity layers at NRDC.
• Assisting vulnerability assessments and documenting them. 
• Participate in current projects and documenting them.
• Conduct reviews, analyze data, logs, etc. 
• Work with SIEM, Endpoint Security, etc. 

Qualifications

Required:

• Commitment to NRDC’s mission and values.
• Very strong interest in all things Cybersecurity.
• Understanding encryption in transit and at rest. 
• Email security, IDM, SIEM, all cybersecurity frameworks.

Preferred:

• No weighted preference in qualifications.
• Looking for an intern with curiosity, imagination and a fit to NRDC's core values.
• Someone looking to strengthen the team.
