ComplexChaos is on a mission to help humanity cooperate at scale.

We are a pre-seed startup funded by Village Global (a VC chaired by Reid Hoffman and backed by Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, and more) and supported by angel investors, including founders and leaders from OpenGov, Google, Mural, Pactum AI, WhatsApp, and others. Our advisors include former senior executives from companies like Workday, Symantec, Visa, VMWare, and Box.

Welcome to ComplexChaos, where we transform complex multi-stakeholder debates into aligned decisions. We’re on a mission to make the world a better place—one algorithm at a time. If you have the skills to build consensus among diverse parties, then you might be the Quantitative Researcher we’re looking for. We’re pushing the boundaries of AI-driven decision-making, and we need someone who excels at solving challenging problems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design Cutting-Edge Algorithms: Develop advanced algorithms that simplify consensus-building in multi-party negotiations. You’ll blend techniques from game theory, AI, and optimization to create innovative solutions.

  • Refine Mathematical Models: Conceptualize and continuously improve mathematical models, ensuring they are robust and effective in real-world scenarios.

  • Implement & Test: Back-test and implement your algorithms in real-world situations, moving beyond theory to see your creations in action.

  • Innovate with Data: Utilize unconventional data sources to drive innovation, ensuring our solutions are always ahead of the curve.

  • Conduct Rigorous Research: Perform independent research and deep statistical analysis to enhance everything from trading signals to decision-making frameworks.

  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to integrate your algorithms into our platform, ensuring they function seamlessly.

  • Communicate Clearly: Document your methods and explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, making your insights accessible to all.

What You Bring:

  • Educational Background: PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in quantitative research, algorithm design, or a similar field.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in probability, statistics, machine learning, time-series analysis, pattern recognition, and NLP. Experience with Python, R, or C++ is a strong advantage.

  • Research Skills: Ability to translate mathematical models into code and apply them in a data-driven research environment.

  • Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to approach problems from multiple angles and develop creative solutions.

  • Team Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team and communicate complex ideas clearly.

  • Curiosity & Innovation: A strong desire to explore new approaches and push the boundaries of decision-making and financial research.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • Impactful Work: Contribute to shaping the future of global decision-making, cooperation, and financial strategies.

  • Innovative Environment: Join a team that values creativity, continuous learning, and forward-thinking.

  • Inclusive Culture: Work in an environment that is dynamic, fun, and conscious, with a strong emphasis on diversity of ideas.
