We are looking for a Business Compliance Manager with the following qualifications to join our team:

Key areas of responsibilities – what you will be doing

The SJ Group Compliance team is responsible for the running and management of the SJ Group compliance program, which is designed to manage integrity compliance risks faced by the SJ Group in its global business operations including bribery and corruption risks, sanction risk and other code of ethics related matters.

The core responsibility of the SJ Group Compliance team is to design and implement effective controls and processes within the SJ Group’s operations in the management of its integrity compliance risks.

As a member of the SJ Group Compliance team, you will have the opportunity to be part of the journey to strengthen and enhance the SJ Group compliance program within your Region, and be involved in:

  • rolling out, implementing, and testing policies and procedures and various other activities and initiatives under SJ Group’s Compliance Program within your Region.
  • providing guidance on the policies and procedures under the SJ Group’s Compliance Program within your Region;
  • coordinating integrity risk assessment;
  • conducting  compliance training;
  • conducting fact finding investigations; and


Your working environment – who you will be working with

The SJ Group Compliance team is led by its Chief Compliance Officer. The team is made up of people from various disciplines, industries and cultures and located globally.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the team who are experienced in the management of integrity compliance risks, as well as the junior members of the team in the journey to strengthen and enhance the SJ Group compliance program.

You will be supporting our 16,000+ colleagues comprised of 100+ nationalities working in 120+ offices spread across 40+ countries. These colleagues are from the front line such as our business development teams; bid teams; project management teams as well as those working on project sites. You will have the opportunity to work on integrity compliance issues faced by our colleagues around the world including those in high-risk locations.

In designing, rolling out, implementing and testing policies and procedures under our compliance program, you will be working with colleagues from other advisory functions such as Human Resource, Finance, Treasury, Information Technology, Communication, and Internal Audit.

Business travel within your Region can be expected.

Requirements – what you can bring to the role

Education and experience

  • Tertiary education from any discipline. Legal qualification or training will be beneficial.
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience in the areas of designing, rolling out, implementing or testing anti-bribery, competition law and trade sanctions compliance programs of multinational or conglomerate companies in any sector or industry.
  • Experience in the management of third party or external business partner risks and conducting integrity due diligence will be preferred.
  • Exposure managing bribery, competition law and trade sanctions compliance issues in high-risk countries or emerging markets will be well regarded.
  • Experience in conducting fact finding investigations, identifying root causes and making recommendations on remedial actions.
  • Clear grasp and understanding of key global anti-bribery, competition and trade sanctions.

Skills

  • Comfortable with listening, interacting and building relationships with colleagues across different cultures, countries, roles and levels.
  • Experience acting as business partner to businesses to resolve their integrity compliance issues and to come up with solutions which enables business and at the same time adequately manages integrity compliance risks.
  • Experience in analysing and managing integrity compliance risk issues and problems which are often grey and dynamic in nature and entails making judgement calls.
  • Project management skills and experience in running and managing projects which involve advanced planning and mobilisation and coordination with colleagues across different cultures, countries, roles and levels.
  • Enjoy exploring, identifying and trying creative ideas and solutions to implement an effective integrity compliance program for example in the areas of training and communication, and development of compliance culture.
  • Ability to communicate (verbal and written) in a crisp and clear manner and present complex issues to be easily grasped and understood.
  • Possess an inquisitive mindset to fact finding investigation and able to master the details as necessary.
  • Comfortable with working in an agile, nimble and dynamic environment.
