What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Provide legal and strategic advice and counseling on a wide variety of commercial matters, including with respect to both direct/production and indirect/non-production procurement decisions 
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage the entire contract lifecycle process
  • Regularly review the contract process to ensure accountability and compliance with company policies and procedures, and prepare related reports and documentation
  • Manage the contract lifecycle management system
  • Develop form documentation, templates, procedures, and training for the Purchasing and Supply Chain Teams 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, and Sales Teams 
  • Collaborate with other Legal Team colleagues on special projects as we grow and develop Scout’s legal culture and functions 

Location & Travel Expectations: This role may be based in Scout Motors’ locations in Novi, MI, Columbia, SC, or McLean, VA. Applicants should expect that the role may require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and be able to travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. 

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, business administration or similar discipline, J.D. from an accredited law school preferred  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a contracts manager or equivalent with a medium to large company (ideally automotive industry)
  • Significant experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements, preferably experience with supplier and manufacturing related agreements 
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management software, including the creation of playbooks, contract workflows, and processes
  • Experience and desire to play a key role in a growing legal team that will provide strategic assistance to all areas of the business throughout the contract process 
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work well across departments and strengthen company culture through effective collaboration

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000 - $140,000

Internal leveling code: IC9
